The developing company would receive a royalty in exchange for the technical data and licenses required to produce and market a component.[33] The 1976 AMD–Intel cross-licensing agreement was also extended through 1995 by the 1982 agreement.[33][34] The agreement contained provisions allowing either party to terminate it with one year’s notice after five years and the right to bring disputes before arbitration.[33]
